Wang Dao-han, president of the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS), met with the Hsu Hsin-liang-led Taiwan delegation for promoting cross-Strait "three direct links" in Shanghai on July 7.

During the meeting, Wang said that China's mainland had made full preparation for the "three direct links", which is hoped to be realized as soon as possible.

Wang affirmed the delegation's act to promote the "three links" and pointed out that the Taiwanese have raised louder and louder voices for its realization and there have been a continuous stream of delegations coming to the mainland for this purpose, this fact reflects the objective needs for cross-Straits economic growth and exchanges between different parties of the two sides, it also embodies the vital interests of the Taiwan people.

Wang noted that an early realization of the "three direct links" is the general trend and popular feeling. As long as cross-Strait "three links" is seen as the internal affair of China, it may not involve the political connocation of one China, this measure is taken really out of consideration of the interests of the Taiwan public.

As long as related folk industrial organizations of Taiwan are entrusted, consultation on this topic can be started, Taiwan authorities should grasp this opportunity.
