French FM Arrives in Jordan on Mideast Mission

French Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin on Saturday arrived in Amman on the third leg of his Mideast tour in a bid to revive the regional peace process.

French Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin on Saturday arrived in Amman on the third leg of his Mideast tour in a bid to revive the regional peace process.

During his two-day visit in Jordan, Villepin is expected to meetwith Jordanian King Abdullah II on developments in the region, particularly on the rising tensions between Israel and the Palestinians as well as bilateral ties between France and Jordan.

Before touching down in Amman, Villepin visited Lebanon and Syria. During his stay in the two countries, he reiterated French support for convening an international conference to put the Mideast peace process back on track.
