FM Spokesman on Assassination of Afghan Vice-President

China is shocked and gives its condolences following the assassination of Vice President Abdul Qadeer of the Afghan Transitional Government, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Liu Jianchao said in Beijing Saturday.

China is shocked and gives its condolences following the assassination of Vice President Abdul Qadeer of the Afghan Transitional Government, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Liu Jianchao said in Beijing Saturday.

Liu sent China's condolences to the Afghan Transitional Government, the Afghan people and to Abdul Qadeer's family.

"China opposes and condemns terrorism in any form, and hopes and believes that the Afghan peace process will not be affected bythe incident," Liu said.

Under the leadership of President Hamid Karzai, the Afghan people are capable of dealing with their domestic affairs well, Liu said.

The Afghan Interior Ministry confirmed Abdul Qadeer was shot dead Saturday by unidentified gunmen outside his office in centralKabul.
