A Chinese expert said in Beijing Thursday that trade and investment between China and Japan benefit both countries.
Through investing in China, many Japanese enterprises have the opportunity to raise their competitiveness on global markets and shake off their difficulties back at home, said Zhao Jinping, an expert with the Development and Research Center of the State Council.
On the other hand, Japanese companies give their Chinese counterparts the opportunity to establish economic partnership andraise the latter's performance, Zhao said at a seminar on science, technology and economy exchanges between China and Japan.
Such economic and trade cooperation surely benefit the macro-economy of the two countries, said Zhao.
According to Zhao, 40 percent to 50 percent of Chinese exports to Japan in 2000 came from Japanese-funded enterprises, and the surge in exports last year could be attributed to the fact that Japanese enterprises moved production bases to China. The result benefited both sides.
Zhao noted that the two economies are highly complementary, so economic cooperation not only is an inevitable option, but also has a bright future.
