At least 1.1 million people in Hunan Province, central China, have been affected by continuous torrential rain and the water level of Lake Dongting is close to danger level, local officials said Monday night.

Torrential rain has been reported in over 20 counties in the Xiangjiang River valley in the province since June 29 while the water level of Lake Donguing at Chenglingji had risen to 31.99 meters by 20:00 (Beijing Time) Monday.
