Turkish F-16 Planes to Escort Plane Carrying Turkish Soccer Team

Turkish Air force F-16 planes will escort plane carrying national soccer team as it reaches Turkish airspace, reported the Anatolian News Agency on Sunday.

Turkish Air force F-16 planes will escort plane carrying national soccer team as it reaches Turkish airspace, reported the Anatolian News Agency on Sunday.

Turkey came third in the World Cup finals after beating co-hosts South Korea 3-2 on Saturday.

A statement issued by the General Staff said on Sunday that F-16 war planes would escort the plane carrying the national team until it lands at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport.

Meanwhile, the plane carrying the team took off from South Korea more than two hours late because of a hoax bomb scare at theairport.
