The Central Television of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has televised through videotape some matches of the South Korea-Japan World Cup finals since it kicked off on May 31, including the second round game between South Korea and Italy.

The Central Television of the DPRK broadcast on June 1 the opening match between France and Senegal after the opening ceremony on May 31.

Other important group matches and quarter-finals were also televised to satisfy the demand of soccer fans in the DPRK, which has a long tradition in the game.

The South Korea-Italy game was broadcast on June 23, which the commentator compared with the match between the DPRK and Italy in the 1966 World Cup in London, when the DPRK team won 1-0 to make it to the quarter-finals.

The commentator gave an objective analysis of the performance and tactics of South Korean players after they beat Italy on a golden goal.

Except the Central Television, the other DPRK media have yet to report the World Cup.

The Central Television of the DPRK also broadcast on May 31 a warm-up game between South Korea and France played before the start of the World Cup. It was the first time for the DPRK to broadcast sports games held in South Korea.
