China's flood-stricken areas along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River will continue toface the threat of heavy rains in the next two to three days, according to weather forecasts.

The latest predictions from the Central Meteorological Observatory say that most areas along the Yangtze River, includingthe Sichuan Basin, Chongqing Municipality as well as Hubei, Anhui,Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, will have heavy rain or rainstorms,with some parts experiencing downpours.
In addition, Shaanxi and Henan provinces along the Yellow Riverwill also be hit by continuous rainfall.
According to sources from the Shaanxi flood prevention department, over 70 counties in this province have had rain since Wednesday night. The rainfalls in some areas exceeded 50 millimeters, calling for sound preparation for flood control.
Forecasters also warn that some parts in Anhui will have nearly100 millimeters of rain in the next two days.
Since entering the flood period on June 20, Anhui has had frequent heavy rains. The water level of the Yangtze and Huaihe Rivers within Anhui has exceeded the danger level on several occasions over the past week and is still rising.
The latest information from the State Flood Control and DroughtRelief Headquarters shows that 19 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China have been inundated by rain to greateror lesser degrees, causing 596 deaths and 26 billion yuan of direct economic losses.
