China Red Cross Gets 2.56 Million Yuan for Disaster Relief

The China Red Cross Society (CRCS) has collected donations worth 2.56 million yuan for disaster relief in eight flood-hit areas, sources with the CRCS said in Beijing Monday.

The China Red Cross Society (CRCS) has collected donations worth 2.56 million yuan for disaster relief in eight flood-hit areas, sources with the CRCS said in Beijing Monday.

The CRCS will purchase essential supplies to aid people in devastated areas, including Shaanxi, Sichuan, Chongqing, Guizhou, Guangxi, Hunan, Fujian and Jiangxi.

CRCS at local levels have also carried out wide ranging disaster relief work. The CRCS branch in Hunan Province has dispatched 98 medical teams, giving medical treatment to 150,000 local people. The branch in Shaanxi sent a donation of 55,000 yuanand essential supplies worth 1.25 million yuan to disaster-hit areas.
