A 77-year-old woman died after uttering a shout of joy at South Korea's victory on penalties over Spain in the World Cup quarterfinals Saturday.
The woman collapsed in front of her TV set at home just after shouting "We won!" at around 6:10 p.m. when captain Hong Myung Bo converted the last spot kick for a 5-3 victory in the penalty shootout.
Doctors said the woman probably had a fatal heart attack. The deceased had been suffering from heart problems and high blood pressure, her husband told police.
In another part of the city, a 14-year-old boy was in critical condition after sustaining a severe head injury, police said.
He fell overt near Donga University in western Pusan at around 7:50 p.m. after running out of his house to join the hordes of delirious fans.
