It was announced at the opening ceremony at Sai Kung Tang Shiu Kin Sports Ground for "Recommendation of the Month July: Sai Kung" and the "Sai Kung Seafood Carnival" that a series of events and tourism-related activities would take place at Sai Kung over the summer months.
Marking the launch were a series of special performances, including dragon dance, traditional Chinese dance, a special performance entitled "boat riding on land," tai chi (shadow boxing) demonstrations and string instrumental music.
Exciting programs such as Chinese dance, acrobatics, jazz and pop music, as well as street performances, Chinese arts and crafts demonstrations and face painting, will be arranged by Hong Kong's Leisure and Cultural Services Department during the summer holiday carnivals on July 7, 14 and 28 respectively.
Between June and August, the Sai Kung Food and Beverage Association is holding the "Sai Kung Seafood Carnival," with special offers available in the district's restaurants.
Situated in the eastern New Territories, Sai Kung is renowned for its breathtaking historical and scenic spots. It is also a prime recreation and dining area.
Since September 2001, each of Hong Kong's 18 districts has taken its turn to promote its attractions as the "Recommendation of the Month," part of the "City of Life: Hong Kong is it!" campaign.
