Death Toll from Iran Quake Hits at Least 200

The death toll from a strong earthquake, which hit at least eight Iranian provinces on Saturday, reached 200 in the city of Bouin Zahra in Qazvin Province, the IRNA news agency reported.

The death toll from a strong earthquake, which hit at least eight Iranian provinces on Saturday, reached 200 in the city of Bouin Zahra in Qazvin Province, the IRNA news agency reported.

Majid Shalviri, head of the provincial Red Crescent Society, said the number of those injured is "very high", adding the exact rate of fatalities is not clear yet.

"In the village of Kisse-Jin only, 80 people have been killed," Shalviri said, adding relief workers are transferring the injured to hospitals.
