DPRK Denounces S.Korea-U.S. Joint Military Exercise

The Democratic People's Republicof Korea (DPRK) Friday denounced the joint fleet exercise conducted by the United States and South Korea and Washington's cold-war mentality.

The Democratic People's Republicof Korea (DPRK) Friday denounced the joint fleet exercise conducted by the United States and South Korea and Washington's cold-war mentality.

This is "a dangerous war exercise intended to escalate the tensions on the Korean Peninsula," said the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) in a commentary.

It was another intolerable provocation against the DPRK on the occasion of the second anniversary of the historic DPRK-South Korea Joint Declaration, said the commentary.

The cold-war mentality and mode of action of the Bush administration makes the political and military situation on the Korean Peninsula all the more tense, the commentary said.

South Korea and the United States have staged a three-day jointmilitary exercise recently in the West Sea of Korea, in which hugewar equipment and personnel were employed to carry out anti-submarine offensive and defensive battles and anti-aircraft battles.
