China Congratulates Afghanistan on Transitional Government

China has congratulated Afghanistan on the establishment of its transitional government and pledged to continue to contribute to the Afghan peace process and reconstruction.

China has congratulated Afghanistan on the establishment of its transitional government and pledged to continue to contribute to the Afghan peace process and reconstruction.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jiancho said Thursday China welcomed the successful conclusion of the Loya Jirgah and its election of the cabinet members in the transitional government.

China hoped and was convinced that the transitional government,under the leadership of President Hamid Karzai, would further promote the peace process and reconstruction of Afghanistan, Liu said.

Moreover, he said, the Chinese government attached great importance to developing its good neighborly relations with Afghanistan.
