Chinese Legislature to Review 15 Laws
China's top legislature, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), will examine 15 draft laws and resolutions, covering areas such as government procurement, work safety and promotion of non- governmental educational institutions, in its session next week.

The "Worst Forms of Child Labor Convention 1999" will also be submitted to the legislature for ratification, Xinhua learned from a meeting of Chairman Li Peng and vice-chairmen of the NPC Standing Committee Tuesday.
The draft Law on the Promotion of Non-governmental Educational Institutions and amendments to the Agriculture Law, the Law on Surveying and Mapping and the Insurance Law will be first heard Monday.
Eight draft laws on government procurement, promotion of small and medium-sized enterprises, work safety, science and technology popularization, clean production and rural land contracts have been previously debated, and revised by lawmakers. They will be further discussed in the week-long bi-monthly session.
According to draft resolutions at the meeting and for discussion at Monday's session, members of the first and incumbent Committee of the Basic Law of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region will continue to function.
