Due to predicted thunderstorms, flight controllers at the U.S. space agency NASA on Monday postponed the landing of space shuttle Endeavor for at least 24 hours.
The controllers will continue to monitor the weather at KennedySpace Center in Florida and try other two landing attempts on Tuesday, NASA said in a statement.
Endeavor was scheduled to return to Earth on Monday, bringing back seven astronauts. Among them are three International Space Station's former residents, the so-called Expedition Four crew.
The crew includes Americans Carl Walz and Daniel Bursch, who broke the U.S. record for the longest stay in space. Walz and Bursch, with their Russian commander Yuri Onufrienko, have been inorbit for more than six months.
Monday's delay will further extend the U.S. single-flight endurance record set by Walz and Bursch, who are spending their 194th day in space.
