A total of 139 goals have been scored so far in World Cup 2002, precisely the same as four years ago in France, said Keith Cooper, FIFA Director of Communications at a regular media briefing Monday in Seoul.

According to Cooper, there have been 220 yellow cards and 14 red cards issued so far. The red cards were either straight expulsions or the result of two consecutive cautions in a single match, leading to automatic expulsion.

Following are the replies to questions at the press conference by Cooper:

On match oddities: Neither Brazil nor Belgium has ever lost in a World Cup match played on the 17th of the month. The two meet today in Kobe, Japan. Yesterday's penalty shootout in the Spain vs Ireland match was the 15th penalty shootout in World Cup history and the golden goal in the Senegal-Sweden match was the second time only that a golden goal decided the outcome of a World Cup match.

Brazil have never lost a World Cup match in extra time. Spain last night finished with 10 players when one left the field injured, with his team having already used up its three substitutes and thus not being eligible to replace him.

On possible disciplinary action following the South Korea-Portugal match: The allegation that the Portuguese player Joao Pinto pushed or struck the referee Angel Sanchez when shown the red card will be investigated by the World Cup Disciplinary Committee on June 19.

On a published newspaper story that a South Korea and a Portuguese player (Figo) allegedly 'discussed' the ideal result of their match: FIFA never comments on newspaper stories.
