Carrefour Carries on an Overall Entry into China's Market
Carrefour, the largest French supermarket chain, has lately opened its 28th branch shop in Hangzhou and set up its 11th Chinese purchase center in Ningbo, a coastal city in East China's Zhejiang Province, according to sources from China's first consumable expo in Ningbo.

China's market has become the most important link in Carrefour's system of the two-way goods flow, according to Wang Neng, principal of Carrefour for global procurement business.
Carrefour, the world's second largest retailer, has already opened over 9,200 chain-stores in 31 countries, with the global sales volume reaching 78 billion Euro last year.
Along with the booming retailer business in China, Carrefour has paid more attention to purchase business in China's market. As reported, Carrefour has established 11 purchase bases in Chinese cities. In 2001, some 61 percent of Carrefour's total direct purchase volume in Asia was from China.
China's products are of superiority in price-to-performance ratio. And China's enterprises can react promptly to the market changes and they also have desire for entering EU's market, which provide a firm base for further cooperation between Carrefour and China's enterprises.
