South Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) should achieve reconciliation and cooperation through dialogue, South Korean President Kim Dae-jung said Tuesday.
South Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) should achieve reconciliation and cooperation through dialogue, South Korean President Kim Dae-jung said Tuesday.
Military activities should not occur again on the Korean Peninsula, said the president at a cabinet meeting in the presidential palace.
After the first summit meeting between leaders of South Korea and the DPRK two years ago, tensions on the peninsula have been eased drastically, Kim said.
But the on-and-off talks are not good for the two sides and notconducive to peace on the peninsula, Kim added.
Kim held that the relations between South Korea and the DPRK and those between the DPRK and the United States should be both improved, especially at a time when the DPRK and the United Statesare preparing for their dialogue.
He said his country will painstakingly push forward the dialogue between South Korea and the DPRK and fulfill its responsibility for national security and future, Kim said.
