Lifting of Ban on Pak Flights 'A Step in Desired Direction': FO Spokesman

Spokesman for Pakistan's Foreign Office (FO) Aziz Ahmed Khan said Monday that the Indian government's decision to lift ban on Pakistani aircraft to overfly Indian territory is "a step in desired direction."

Spokesman for Pakistan's Foreign Office (FO) Aziz Ahmed Khan said Monday that the Indian government's decision to lift ban on Pakistani aircraft to overfly Indian territory is "a step in desired direction."

"This is a step in desired direction, but a lot more needs to be done," said the spokesman.

"We would be able to respond after receiving the details of theIndian Government's decision tomorrow," he said.

In the first step towards de-escalation of Indo-Pak tension, India Monday lifted ban on overflight by Pakistani aircraft.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Nirupama Rao announced that the Indian government has decided to lift all restrictions onPakistani aircraft and Pakistan airlines to overfly Indian territory.

The ban was imposed on January 1 following the militants' attack on Parliament on December 13 last year.
