Defence ministry sources Monday disclosed that India will not opt for immediate military de-escalation on the border.
However, they did not ruled out moving Eastern Naval warships from Arabian sea back to Bay of Bengal as part of confidence building measures.
They said that any troops reduction on the border would be linked to permanent ground markers like reduction in border shelling, end to infiltration attempts across the Line of Control (LoC), disbanding of terrorists and Jehadi groups and their camps in Pakistan and tapering off terrorist funding through some channels.
New Delhi would be closely monitoring the situation on the ground both inside the country as well as across the line for nextfour to six weeks for these markers, they said.
India will commence the withdrawal of troops and Air Force assets only after it was satisfied that ground situation supportedclaims being made by Islamabad, they added.
The sources said any Indian withdrawal would commence from the Rajasthan sector and gradually troops on Punjab frontier could be moved back in the second stage.
However, the sources said as far as Jammu and Kashmir was concerned, the troops would remain vigilant on the LoC till the local assembly elections were completed by the end of October.
