Parks Brings Costa Rica to 1-1 Draw with Turkey

Winston Parks scored a goal in the 86th minute, bringing Costa Rica to a 1-1 draw with Turkey at the Korea-Japan 2002 World Cup finals Sunday in Inchon.

Winston Parks scored a goal in the 86th minute, bringing Costa Rica to a 1-1 draw with Turkey at the Korea-Japan 2002 World Cup finals Sunday in Inchon.

Ecuador's forward Parks, who started to play in the pitch in the second half, struck a close-range shot home.

Turkey's midfielder Emre Belozoglu scored a goal in the 56th minute, giving his side a 1-0 lead in its win-or-die match againstCosta Rica.

Belozoglu broke Costa Rica's defense into the penalty box and fired consecutive shots, the second of which cashed in.

This was the second match for both teams in the group C. Costa Rica beat World Cup debutants China 2-0 while Turkey lost to four-time champions Brazil 2-1 in their first group matches.
