Brazil Thrash China 4-0 in Group C

After 10 minutes of aggressive play by the Chinese World Cup rookies, Brazilian star Roberto Carlos opened the floodgate in the15th minute as the Real Madrid defender fired his trademark free kick from 25 meters over the outstretched arms of China's goalkeeper Jiang Jin.

Brazil captain Cafu marauded the right flank before he beat twoChinese defenders to go deep. He passed the ball to the surging Ronaldo in the middle who calmly tapped it home.

The best chance for China came in the 60th minute as Zhao Junzhe sent a strong volley over the diving Brazilian keeper Marcos, only to be blocked by the right post.

Shao Jiayi also had a wonderful opportunity to net China's first finals goal as his 20-meter blast went narrowly wide of goalin the 69th minute.

Brazil have collected six points from two games, joining Spain in the round of 16. China, without a point from two games, have been eliminated.

Costa Rica, who have three points from the China game, will fight with Turkey for the other berth for the knockout stage.
