The Republic of Kazakhstan, the People's Republic of China, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan have established the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) on June 15, 2001.
The SCO aims to strengthen mutual trust and good-neighborly and friendly relations among member states, encourage effective cooperation among member states in politics, economy, trade, science, technology, culture, education, energy, transportation, environmental protection and other fields, make joint efforts to maintain and safeguard regional peace, security and stability, and establish a democratic, fair and rational new international political and economic order.
