Chinese skipper Ma Mingyu said Monday, one day before China's World Cup opener against Costa Rica, that the thousands of Chinese fans could be the main factor for them to win the game.

China, who is playing its first World Cup finals in the history, will have 20,000 Chinese fans on the stand on Tuesday in the Group C match.

"It will be a balanced game with each side having 50 per cent chance to win. But the thousands of Chinese fans will give us the strength to beat Costa Rica," said Ma after Monday's training session.

China is grouped with Brazil, Costa Rica and Turkey in the group. In Monday's match, Brazil beat Turkey 2-1.
