Ukrainian President Satisfied with Ties with China

Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma, in a meeting with visiting Fu Quanyou, Chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), Monday in Kiev, said thathis country is satisfied with present Sino-Ukrainian relations.

Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma, in a meeting with visiting Fu Quanyou, Chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), Monday in Kiev, said thathis country is satisfied with present Sino-Ukrainian relations.

Kuchma said the first visit by a Chief of the General Staff of the PLA, on the 10th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, marks a new phase in the history of relations between the two armies and two countries.

The president also said China plays an important role in international affairs and Ukraine is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in all fields for the benefits of the two peoples, and peace in the region and the world as a whole.

He also stressed that Ukraine will continue to stick to the one-China policy and build a bright future in bilateral relations.

Fu, also a member of China's Central Military Commission, said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations 10 years ago, bilateral ties have developed smoothly.

He said China values relations with Ukraine based on mutual benefit and cooperation and is willing to work with Ukraine to enhance it to a new high.

Fu said that the Chinese army is willing to develop multi-leveland multi-field cooperation with Ukraine's military.
