India Rules Out Use of Nuclear Weapons
India Monday categorically ruledout use of nuclear weapons against Pakistan saying as a responsible nation it feels it will be imprudent to use such weapons, the Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.

A statement released by Indian Defense Ministry said "the government makes it clear that India does not believe in the use of nuclear weapons. Neither does it visualize that it will be usedby any other country".
This was reaction of Indian government to media reports about the possible use of nuclear weapons in the context of current India-Pakistan stand off, PTI said.
Indian Defense Minister George Fernandes, who was in Singapore to attend an Asian security forum, said Sunday that India will notbe "impulsive" in its dealing with Pakistan.
Meanwhile Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf said Sunday that Pakistan will not start a war with India over Kashmir and reiterated his appeal to Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for peace talks.
Both Indian prime minister and Pakistani president are in Almaty, Kazakhstan to attend a 16-nation security conference. The escalating tension between India and Pakistan causes internationalconcerns. The international community expects India and Pakistan to ease the tension between two countries in the Almaty summit.
