Chinese center defender Li Weifeng told about his feelings and preparation of the World Cup before Tuesday's open match against Costa Rica.
Following is the story written by the starter:
Our preparation for the first-ever World Cup is at the final stage when the world premier soccer competition is on full wing.
Bora Milutinovic trained us on set pieces. I sent balls to the forwards, Hao Haidong and Yang Chen. Captain Fan Zhiyi was with us too.
We practice only once everyday under the order of Milutinovic. He said we need rest as too much training had been carried out before we came here in South Korea.
Yes, I do feel tired after a tight schedule of training back at home in China. So I watched TV these days with my teammates.
I trust "Lao Mi" -- nick name for Milutinovic in Chinese, which means old buddy Milutinovic. He is an experienced coach, leading a five teams into the World Cup finals. He knows what he is doing and his decisions were constantly proved right.
Most of us were watching matches when we were off the training. To be honest, I have never watches so many matches in 2-3 days because I didn't have time.
I have been staying at the hotel all the time, watching matches and having massages. I learned a lot from watching other teams' matches.
I went to the Sogwipo Stadium the other day. I was so excited when I got to the site, and it's a great view to watch from the stands. We will play against Brazil here on June 8. I cannot wait.
I'm seeing a dream to be fulfilled. I want to defend against Rivaldo, Ronaldo and the best of the world, which is my dream when I was a boy.
But I didn't put my step on the grass. I wanted to save it until the match.
I knew the match would be one of the best memories for the whole life.
