Brazil's Ronaldo Convinced of Victory in Turkey Clash
Brazil's star striker Ronaldo on Sunday assured of his team's chance of winning their World Cup Group C opener against Turkey scheduled Monday in Ulsan.
Brazil's star striker Ronaldo on Sunday assured of his team's chance of winning their World Cup Group C opener against Turkey scheduled Monday in Ulsan.
"We did a lot of research on the Turkish team. They have a very strong defense," Ronaldo said in a press conference at Ulson Munsu Football Stadium, where the team held a tune-up session ahead of Monday's game.
But he said, "I assure that will win the game against Turkey tomorrow."
On his expectations for the tournament, Ronaldo said he strongly believe that Brazil will go on to the finals. "We will show a fantastic match tomorrow," he added.
In Sunday's training at the stadium, the four-time champions used the stadium 10 minutes longer than allowed, keeping the Turkish side waiting.
The Turkish, who were scheduled to use the stadium after the Brazilians, lined up near the coach box in an apparent gesture to show their displeasure.
After playing Turkey, Brazil will meet China Saturday in Seogwipo, and then Costa Rica on June 13 in Suwon in their other first round matches of the tournament.
