Any Chinese player who violates rules or regulations during the World Cup finals co-hosted by South Korea and Japan shall be sent home right away, a leading Chinese sports official has warned the team prior to the tournament's kick-off on Friday.

"The national team represent the whole of the 1.3 billion Chinese people and we'd time and again stressed the importance of moral style, either in competition, training and in the daily life," said Nan Yong, vice-president of the Chinese Football Association and head of the Chinese delegation.

"Rules and regulations will speak whenever anyone violates rules or regulations. Any offense to the disciplines means the one involved to be kicked out of the national team," he said.

"We'd drawn bitter lessons from the past and any offenders at the World Cup finals shall definitely be punished and sent home," Nan added.
