China Environmental Labeling Scheme Launched in HK

Products to be exported to China can apply for China Environmental Label to show their environment-friendly qualities as from Wednesday in Hong Kong.

Products to be exported to China can apply for China Environmental Label to show their environment-friendly qualities as from Wednesday in Hong Kong.

To be awarded the label, products must meet the criteria of theChina Environmental Labeling scheme, established by the State Environmental Protection Administration of China.

Hong Kong's Green Council was officially appointed Wednesday asthe scheme's overseas representative office.

"Hong Kong is the gateway to the West. Huge volumes of high-tech products from developed countries are imported into China viaHong Kong. Hence Hong Kong possesses the advantage in developing certification for environmental label products," said Xia Qing, vice president of the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Science.
