10th Anniversary of China-Slovenia Diplomatic Ties Celebrated

The Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the Slovenian Embassy in China jointly held a reception in Beijing on Wednesday to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Slovenia.

The Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the Slovenian Embassy in China jointly held a reception in Beijing on Wednesday to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Slovenia.

Addressing guests at the reception, CPAFFC President Chen Haosusaid that China-Slovenia relations had developed smoothly in the past 10 years and cooperation between the two sides had broadened to cover politics, economics, culture, science and technology and local government administration.

China respected the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Slovenia, and also respected the way chosen by Slovenian people to develop their country, said Chen, adding that China was ready to work together with the Slovenian people to create a better future for China-Slovenia relations, on the basis of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence.

Dimitrij Rupel, foreign minister of Slovenia, who is now in China for an official visit, spoke at the reception. He said that despite the great geographic distance and territorial difference between China and Slovenia, the two countries had cooperated extensively.

He said that Slovenia appreciated the important role that Chinaplayed in maintaining world peace and stability and was willing towork with China to promote the progress of mankind through international cooperation and unity.

Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Guchang and Slovenian Ambassador to China Vladimir Gasparic unveiled a series of stamp covers commemorating the 10th anniversary at the reception.

More than 200 people attended the reception, including Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Zhao Nanqi, Slovenian guests and some foreign envoys.
