New Development Targets Set for SIP by China, Singapore
Visiting Chinese Vice-Premier Li Lanqing Tuesday met with Singapore Deputy Minister Lee Hsien Loong and exchanged views on the issue of Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) project.
Li Lanqing, who arrived here Monday for a four-day official visit, said SIP has been established for eight years and great achievements have been made in the SIP, especially in developing and attracting investments.
The Chinese vice-premier said the SIP project is a good example of bilateral cooperation that has brought benefits to both sides. The Chinese side is willing to further broader bilateral economic cooperation so as to meet the challenges of economic globalization.
For his part, Lee Hsien Loong said both the governments of China and Singapore have given support to the development of the SIP project since its establishment.
He said that major development has been made in the SIP, adding that against the process of the economic globalization, the two sides should strengthen and widen bilateral cooperation, which will benefit not only Singapore and China, but also benefit the economic development in the Asia-Pacific region.
