Peruvian FM Calls For Trade Expansion with China

Visiting Peruvian Foreign Minister Diego Garcia Sayan called for expansion of Peru-China trade Monday in addressing a bilateral economic and trade symposium.

Visiting Peruvian Foreign Minister Diego Garcia Sayan called for expansion of Peru-China trade Monday in addressing a bilateral economic and trade symposium.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Peru and China have kept good political and economic relations, he said, noting that exchanges and cooperation in trade, science and technology as well as culture have developed smoothly.

Economic and trade cooperation in agriculture, mining, light industry and machinery is fruitful, he said.

He expressed his confidence that Peru's geographic conditions, stable environment for investment as well as abundant natural and human resources will attract more Chinese companies.

He said Chinese enterprises are welcome to be engaged in aquiculture, infrastructure and mining.

Wan Jifei, vice-president of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, said that Peru has become an important trade partner of China in Latin America, exporting fishmeal and mining products to China while importing light industry, chemical and machinery products from China.

Wan also called for the diversification of bilateral trade commodities.
