An exhibition room displaying the major achievements as well as everyday articles of Nobel Prize laureate Chen Ning Yang opened Sunday in Hefei, capital of east China's Anhui Province, Chen's hometown.

The room is located within the Hefei Science and Technology Museum.

The museum's curator, Bai Jinsong, said that the newly-opened room exhibits photos and video tapes about the famous scientist, as well as things once used by him.

Among the 106 photos on display, 56 were provided by Yang himself, while the other 50 were items collected over a long period of time.

According to Bai, the photos include group ones taken respectively with Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping and Jiang Zemin -- three generations of Chinese leaders -- as well as with Deng Jiaxian, one of the "fathers" of China's nuclear industry.

Another treasure in the exhibition room is a replica of the medal given to Yang in 1957, when he was awarded the Nobel Prize.
