Chinese World Cup team left Macao on Sunday for South Korea to prepare for its first-ever appearance in 44 years in the premier soccer tournament.

Chinese World Cup team left Macao on Sunday for South Korea to prepare for its first-ever appearance in 44 years in the premier soccer tournament.

China was defeated 2-0 by Portugal, one of the favorites to win this summer's World Cup, in Macao on Saturday evening in their last warm-up game ahead of the Korea-Japan 2002 World Cup finals running from May 31 to June 30.

China have been drawn in Group C of the tournament's first round, alongside four-time world champions Brazil, Turkey and Costa Rica.

China will make their debut in the World Cup against Costa Rica on June 4 in Gwangju, South Korea.
