Fujian Official Expresses Sympathy over Taiwan Air Crash

The Taiwan affairs office of the Fujian provincial government Saturday expressed condolences over the death of Taiwanese compatriots in the crash of a Taiwan-based China Airlines flight.

The Taiwan affairs office of the Fujian provincial government Saturday expressed condolences over the death of Taiwanese compatriots in the crash of a Taiwan-based China Airlines flight.

Expressing sympathy to the families of victims, a spokesman said he hoped the bodies would be found as soon as possible.

According to reports, the Boeing 747-200 passenger plane from Taipei to Hong Kong crashed into the sea in the vicinity of the Penghu Island shortly after it left Taipei at 3:08 pm.

Aboard the plane were 206 passengers, including nine from the Chinese mainland, and 19 crew members.
