Indian Media: Intercepted Messages Show Pak-Based Group Behind Lone Killing

Pakistan-based terrorist outfit Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) is behind the killing of senior Hurriyat Conference leader Abdul Gani Lone, the Press Trust of India quoting official sources said in Srinagar Wednesday night.

Pakistan-based terrorist outfit Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) is behind the killing of senior Hurriyat Conference leader Abdul Gani Lone, the Press Trust of India quoting official sources said in Srinagar Wednesday night.

Quoting messages from across the border intercepted by securityagencies, the sources said that the intercepted conversation between one Abu Hadid operating in Srinagar and a "control stationof LeT in Pakistan" revealed it was Hadid who was responsible for the killing of 70-year-old Lone at a rally Tuesday.

The sources said that Hadid accomplished the task along with two other LeT militants, Abu Hamza and Abu Rahel (all Pakistani nationals), wearing police uniform after considerable recce of thearea.

Hadid was advised by LeT operational commander in the valley Abu Samas not to publicly claim responsibility for the killing of Lone or support the strike call in protest against the incident.

The coded message from across the border expressed happiness over the killing and asked Samas to be watchful of the situation, the sources said.
