Expenditure on advertising in the Chinese mainland soared to 3.2 billion U.S. dollars in the first quarter of this year, 32 percent more than the same period last year, according to a study released Wednesday in Shanghai by NielsenMedia Research.
Expenditure on advertising in the Chinese mainland soared to 3.2 billion U.S. dollars in the first quarter of this year, 32 percent more than the same period last year, according to a study released Wednesday in Shanghai by NielsenMedia Research.
The growth rate, believed to be among the highest globally, shows that China's advertising industry now leads Asia as a force for development.
The Republic of Korea ranked second in the study, with advertising expenditure in January-March rising by 17 percent to around 1.1 billion U.S. dollars, ahead of Indonesia, Hong Kong, Thailand and other Asia-Pacific economies.
The increased spending was mainly fueled by local companies, rather than those from overseas, experts from Nielsen said.
