China Ready for APEC Telecommunication, Information Meeting

Shanghai is ready for the 5th Ministerial Meeting of Telecommunication and Information Industries, which is to be held on May 27-31, an official from themunicipal government of Shanghai said Wednesday.

The official told a press briefing that about 500 people, including ministerial or high-ranking officials and delegates in the telecommunication field from 21 APEC member economies as well as journalists, are expected to attend the meeting.

The meeting will focus on key topics such as infrastructure construction of telecommunication, policies and market supervisionand human capacity building.

It is expected that the meeting will push forward IT growth in Asian nations and consolidate long-term cooperation and exchanges among APEC member economies, said the official.
