Clinton Receives Honorary Degree From Japanese University
The famous Nihon University on Tuesday awarded former U.S. President Bill Clinton an honorary doctorate degree for his contribution to U.S. prosperity and efforts to achieve world peace.
The famous Nihon University on Tuesday awarded former U.S. President Bill Clinton an honorary doctorate degree for his contribution to U.S. prosperity and efforts to achieve world peace.
The private university in Tokyo said the award reflected its esteem for Clinton's efforts to promote bilateral cultural exchanges and for his contribution to the development of science and technology.
Clinton is the 49th person to be awarded the degree from the university and the second former U.S. president following Dwight D.Eisenhower, according to officials of the nation's largest university which has about 81,000 students.
Later in the day, Clinton is scheduled to give a speech on globalization at the United Nations University, also in Tokyo.
Clinton, 55, arrived in Japan after attending East Timor's independence ceremony.
