Seven Killed in Xinjiang Coal Mine Accident

Seven miners were killed and 16 injured when a coal mine collapsed in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Monday.

Seven miners were killed and 16 injured when a coal mine collapsed in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Monday.

The accident occurred at 2:30 pm. By 10:00 pm, all 56 miners, who were working underground when the accident happened, had been brought to the surface.

Twenty-three injured miners were rushed to three local hospitals where seven died.

The mine belongs to the Miquan Yuantong Coal Mining Company in the Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, northern Xinjiang.
