Jordan Keen on Cooperation with Microsoft: King
Jordanian King Abdullah Bin Hussein on Monday said his kingdom was keen on cooperation with Microsoft, the leading computer software company from the United States, to develop the information technology (IT), e-government and computerization of education.
Jordanian King Abdullah Bin Hussein on Monday said his kingdom was keen on cooperation with Microsoft, the leading computer software company from the United States, to develop the information technology (IT), e-government and computerization of education.
He made the pledge in a meeting with Emrie Berkin, visiting deputy director for Middle East, Europe and Africa of Microsoft, Jordan's official Petra news agency reported.
During the meeting, Abdullah highlighted cooperation potential between Microsoft and Jordan's private sector as well as the Ministry of Telecommunications.
The king's aspiration is to develop Jordan into an IT center in the Middle East as he announced during a meeting with microsoft President Bill Gates in Davos in January 2000.
For his part, Berkin expressed appreciation for the investment ambience for the IT industry in Jordan.
He also promised that Microsoft would contribute to the e- government initiatives, the establishment of electronic libraries and a specialized institution for teaching Microsoft programs in Jordan.
