Li Ruihuan Meets Chairman of Slovenian National Council
Visiting Chinese leader Li Ruihuan said Monday in Lgubljana that all nations should follow the principles of equality and mutual respect in dealing with international relations.
Li, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, made the remark when meeting with Tone Hrovat, chairman of the Slovenian National Council.
"Relations between China and Slovenia have developed smoothly largely because we treat each equally, and respect each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity, respect other people's will, the choice of social system, their cultural traditions and habit of life, and their right to equally participate in world affairs,"Li said.
"The strong, rich and big powers are at advantage over the weak, poor and small ones," Li said, stressing that the strong should respect the weak, the rich should respect the poor and the big should respect the small.
Li spoke highly of the development of relations between China and Slovenia over the past 10 years, saying that bilateral cooperation in political, economic, scientific and technical, educational and cultural fields has increased continuously, and the two countries have supported each other in the United Nations and other international organizations.
Speaking on the same occasion, Hrovat agreed with Li on his ideas of equality and mutual respect in international relations, saying that the Slovenian side is pleased with the development of relations with China.
He added that it is an obligation of Slovenia to develop cooperative relations with China in political, economic and other fields.
