A Palestinian suicide bomber killed himself Monday morning in northern Israel, Israel Radio reported.

The explosion took place at about 07:30 a.m. local time (0430 GMT) near the Meggido junction, when the suicide bomber set off explosive devices when Israeli security forces approached him.

The Meggido junction is an important one linking the northern Israeli cities of Netanya, Afula and Hadera and the West Bank Palestinian city of Jenin, which is considered by Israeli security establishments as the Palestinian terrorist warm-house.

No any Palestinian organization has claimed responsibility for the explosion so far.

The incident came a day after a suicide bomber killed three people and wounded at least 56 in Netanya's open-air market.

"Initial reports indicate that a rural patrol of the Border Police was to check a suspicious individual and called on him to halt, and it turned out that he was a terrorist with a bomb on him, and the bomb exploded. We have no reports of other injuries," regional police commander Dov Lutsky told Israel Radio.
