India Saturday asked Islamabad to withdraw its High Commissioner here Ashraf Jehangir Gazi, stepping up diplomatic offensive against Pakistan in the wake of Jammu massacre.
After a two-hour-long meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security, External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh said the Government has decided that Pakistan High Commissioner "be required to return to Islamabad," the Press Trust of India reported,
The decision of the CCS meeting chaired by India's Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee comes a day after Parliament unanimously backed the Government for any action it took to counter Pakistan-sponsored cross-border terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
Singh said the move was aimed at maintaining "parity". India has recalled its High Commissioner to Pakistan Vijay Nambiar following the December 13 terrorist attack on Parliament.
