Chinese defender Fan Zhiyi was Friday named the 2001 Asian Player of the Year.
Fan, who played a key role in China's first ever qualification for the World Cup finals, beat off the challenge of fellow Chinese star Li Tie, Iran's Ali Karimi, Saudi Arabia's Abdullah Al Shehan and Mirdjalal Kasimov of Uzbekistan.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) further boosted China's confidence ahead of the World Cup finals starting May 31 by handing it the National Team of the Year title.
Promising Chinese newcomer Du Wei took out the Youth Player of the Year award.
China took the team of the year for its phenomenal progress under Bora Milutinovic. They have finally made the World Cup finals after failing in six previous attempts to qualify.
In a statement, the AFC said: "China was named team of the year for having qualified for the World Cup in fine fashion and was also picked on the basis of being the national team that had the most significant impact on Asian football in 2001."
Saudi Arabia's coach Nassar Al Johar, who will lead his team at the World Cup finals, was referred to by the AFC as "something of a legend in his country".
Korean side Suwon Samsung Bluwings was awarded Club Team of the Year while Korean referee Kim Young Joo took out Referee of the Year.
Saeed Mohamed from the Maldives was Assistant Referee of the Year.
