China to Save Best Shot to Last at Thomas Cup
China might send their come-back star Chen Hong as the last shot when they meet Malaysia in the semi-final at the Thomas Cup, Chinese head coach Li Yongbo said Wednesday.
China might send their come-back star Chen Hong as the last shot when they meet Malaysia in the semi-final at the Thomas Cup, Chinese head coach Li Yongbo said Wednesday.
The All England champion, who injured his left foot during the Japan Open last month, did not show off in China's earlier three group victories, over Sweden, Denmark and South Korea.
However, head coach Li Yongbo hinted that Chen might be fielded as the singles player in the last four or even in the final.
"Chen has recovered from the injury. He surely has a chance in the following competitions at the Thomas Cup, either in the semis or the final," Li said.
Entering the world team badminton championships with the world' s top four four singles players, China have not lost any of their singles competition so far in the event.
"Men's singles are our keys to victory and every player has done his best in the group matches except Chen, who is yet to perform on the court. We are thinking of fielding him from now on, " the head coach said.
