Chinese Foreign Minister Arrives in Kabul

Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan arrived in Kabul Wednesday morning for a one-day visit.

Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan arrived in Kabul Wednesday morning for a one-day visit.

Tang was met at the airport by chief of foreign relations in the presidential palace, Mohammad Yahya Maroufi, and Deputy Foreign Minister Rahim Shivzoy.

During his stay in Afghanistan, Tang is expected to hold talks with his counterpart, Abdullah Abdullah, and met interim leader Hamid Karzai and former king Mohammad Zahir Shah.

During Tang's visit, China and Afghanistan are expected to signan agreement on economic and technological cooperation.

Tang's visit is the first by a Chinese foreign minister in 37 years.
