China is urging Israel to continue responding positively to international peace efforts, implement relevant resolutions adopted by the U.N. Security Council, and create conditions for the relaxation of tension in the region and resumption of the Middle East peace process.
China is urging Israel to continue responding positively to international peace efforts, implement relevant resolutions adopted by the U.N. Security Council, and create conditions for the relaxation of tension in the region and resumption of the Middle East peace process.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan made the remarks in Beijing Tuesday afternoon at a regular press conference, when asked to comment on the latest developments in the Middle East.
Kong said China had noted that after lifting restrictions on Palestinian President Yasser Arafat's personal freedom, Israel had recently ended its siege of Bethlehem's Church of the Nativity, which was another positive step towards easing the tension in the region.
